Pat Martino creates distinctive sounds that embody thoughtful energy and soul. As a musician, philosopher, and artist, Martino’s pioneering spirit has influenced jazz musicians around the world. That same spirit has inspired the Pat Martino Signature Model. Featuring appointments aimed at tone and playability, this instrument reflects the exciting combination of Gibson’s legendary design with Pat Martino’s soulful style.
If ever an artist earned his status as a guitar hero, it’s Pat Martino. Signed as a session leader for Prestige Records at 20, he’s been a giant innovator in jazz, fusion, and pop for over 4 decades. In the late ’70s, brain surgery left Martino with no memory of the guitar at all. He taught himself to play again using his own records as a guide. Within a few years he’d passed himself up and was forging ahead into uncharted ground, a real hero. Now he’s designed a truly heroic axe with Gibson’s Custom Shop. The gorgeous figured maple carved top, bound turtle pickguard, full body and neck binding, unmarked ebony fretboard (the fret markers are on the side), and gold hardware and knobs give it unmatched visual appeal. A carved mahogany back and sides, 2 – ’57 Classic humbuckers, a compound radius fingerboard, and Pat’s special straight-pull peghead make it a player’s dream.
