Mark is one of the founders of the Fender Custom shop. His excellence and craftsmanship are legendary as seen here in this very rare 2004 Master Design ’65 Stratocaster. There were only 10 guitars in this series built and signed by Mark himself, the rest being team built. This “one of 10” is in mint condition and was obtained from the original owner with all the original paperwork and case candy included. Below is an excerpt from Fender’s article about the guitar:

“When Mark sat down to design his Master Design series guitar, he wanted to create a guitar for “players” as opposed to a museum knock-off. More specifically, he wanted to build a guitar that he would play as opposed to hanging on his mantelpiece.
“To begin, Mark selected a Lake Placid blue over white lacquer, Closet Classic ’65 Stratocaster, as his launching pad and customized it by pairing a three-piece alder body with a single-ply white bound, light relic slab maple neck. The neck has a select Indian rosewood fingerboard with 7 mm pearloid dots, a 9.5” radius, American Standard frets and a ’65 vintage correct decal on the headstock.
“The inaugural Master Design guitar is fueled by two light gray bobbin Custom Shop Fat ’50s pickups (neck and middle) and a light gray bobbin, flat pole-piece Texas Special bridge pickup. As an additional twist, Mark had the middle pickup reverse wound! His masterpiece also includes genuine Kluson tuners, vintage hardware, custom tone capacitors, an L-series serial number, and a special Master Design case”
If you are looking for a great sounding, top notch Masterbuilt guitar, built by one of the best, I highly recommend this rare and impressive Mark Kendrick ’65 Fender Stratocaster.
